Hafezeh V
jump cuts obliterate objects and information coming into view. possible narratives are fragmented into violent disjunctions in space and time. ‘hafezeh V’ represents the fifth version of a series of five films in which each film is a deteriorated version of the one before. the sound follows the same pattern of deterioration as the visuals, becoming more and more abstracted into granules of noise as memory (hafezeh) itself is translated into mere sensory filaments. The original ‘hafezeh V’ was exhibited and later screened in 2004 in Auckland, New Zealand but then went missing and was never recovered. Finally in 2011, using the footage from hafezeh IV, I recreated the fifth film.
